چکیده

We examine and outline challenges in IPv6 routing over low-power wireless personal area networks (PANs). We present empirical measurements and analysis of an increasingly popular PAN link layer, 802.15.4. We show that over short periods 802.15.4 exhibits bimodal connectivity, but over longer periods has many intermediate links. We quantify how synchonous acknowledgments affect common lowpower routing metrics, such as ETX. We identify metrics for detecting modal changes in link quality. We explore how these behaviors affect IP routing and IPv6 requirements, such as route selection and maintenance, sub-IP fragmentation and assembly, and packet scheduling.

6 LoWPAN : Incorporating IEEE 802 . 15 . 4 into the IP architecture

Executive Summary IP for Smart Objects seeks to extend the use of IP networking into resource-constrained devices over a wide range of low-power link technologies – IEEE 802.15.4 represents one such link. Extending IP to low-power, wireless personal area networks (LoWPANs) was once considered impractical because these networks are highly constrained and must operate unattended for multiyear lif...

HYREP: A Hybrid Low-Power Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper, a new hybrid routing protocol is presented for low power Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The new system uses an integrated piezoelectric energy harvester to increase the network lifetime. Power dissipation is one of the most important factors affecting lifetime of a WSN. An innovative cluster head selection technique using Cuckoo optimization algorithm has been used in the desig...

ACENET: architectures and protocols for high throughput, low power, and QoS provisioning in next-generation mobile communications

In this paper, we propose the Ad-hoc CEllular NETwork (ACENET), a heterogeneous wireless network architecture for 3.5 generation (3.5G) and fourth-generation (4G) mobile systems. We propose an IP-based integrated wireless routing scheme for the integration of heterogeneous wireless networking technologies in 3.5G and 4G ACENET. We also propose an integrated wireless MAC scheme for 4G ACENET. AC...

Evolution Toward Third Generation Wireless Networks

The explosive growth of the Internet is expected to produce a tremendous increase in the demand for wireless multimedia services. First and second generation wireless networks have proven capable of providing voice and low-rate data services; however, their current air interfaces are inadequate for satisfying the higher data rates that have been specified by the ITU for IMT-2000. In order to sa...
